Shawn D. Rosen, M.D.
Dr. Rosen provides modern medical care in an old-fashioned way. He believes in partnering with you, his patients, to help achieve your health-related goals. His calling into primary care came after losing his grandmother to cancer. Assisting and caring for her during her 3-year long illness, moving in twice with her when care was needed, joining her on each physician visit and surgery, made him appreciate what it feels like to be sick as well as a caregiver, core as well as ancillary symptoms (all of which mattered), and seeing firsthand both wonderful care and some dysfunction in the current system. When his grandmother died, Dr. Rosen realized there was more to life than what he did as a successful management consult for 12 years. Several traits his colleagues commonly share in describing Dr. Rosen include that he is comprehensive, how much he cares about his patients, that he is an excellent diagnostician, and that he leverages the latest medical literature and innovations to help his patients. Dr. Rosen’s decision to remain independent of the large health systems stems from his preference to send his patients to the most capable specialists, not those working in a specific health system. As a former Medical Director with Stanford Healthcare, he understands how large systems work. Dr. Rosen got into medicine to care for others’ grandparents and family members and treats you, his patients, as he would his own family.
